GP congratulates the National Cricket Team

A delegation from Grameenphone Ltd. headed by Rubaba Dowla, Chief Communications Officer (CCO) visited Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) on Tuesday to congratulate on the recent National Cricket Team's victory over West Indies.

The CCO, Grameenphone handed over a flower bouquet to Lieutenant Gen. Sina Ibn Jamali, awc, psc, President BCB, congratulating on the first Test Series win on an international ground.

Grameenphone - the proud sponsor of the National Cricket Team since 2003 has been closely associated with BCB in the development of cricket in Bangladesh.

Few significant contributions by the Company encompass the initiation of Pacer Hunt in 2004 & 2007, and development of the Grameenphone-BCB National Cricket Academy in Mirpur, established in March 2007.

Over the years Grameenphone has sponsored several home cricket series: with England (2003), Sri Lanka (2006), Australia (2006), India (2007) and the Tri-Nation Series BD-SL-ZIM (2008-09).

Grameenphone also sponsored the first ever Bangladesh female cricket team that won the tournament played in Malaysia in 2007 and the BD-SL-PAK Tri-Nation series in 2009. Earlier, Grameenphone had also been associated with the Premier Division Cricket League.
