Champs rout Arambagh

In form forward Enamul Haque’s double strike put Abahani Limited Dhaka in the pole position of the point table of the Citycell Bangladesh League as the defending champions routed Arambagh Krira Shangha 4-0 at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamlapur in Dhaka on Thursday.

Champs Abahani are now the top with 15 points from 5 matches while Arambagh remain with 5 points from same number of encounters.

Enamul put Abahani ahead in the 7th minute tapping the rebound of Arambagh custodian Mitul off a shot taken by Pranotosh getting ball from Uzzal free kick.

Arambagh initiated three attacks in the first half but failed to score any goal. In the 25th minute Kenyan midfielder Nicodemus’s head went over the crosspiece from Nigerian Subair Mohammed cross. Former national booter Alfaz failed to get a goal as his head went out sidepost from the free kick of Ugandan Kabuye Dominic at 42 minute.

The second half started as the first with blues on the driving seat and defender Md. Sujan netted second goal with head from the corner of Uzaal in the 54th minute. The third goal came one minute later while Abahani’s Ghanaian Striker Awudu Ibramhim shot find the post from the cutback of Enamul.

The fourth goal was always coming and it duly did on 84 minutes.

A fine attack saw Abul back-heel the ball to Ibrahim, who crossed it into the path of an onrushing Enamul and the agile forward slotted the ball home with a right footer from the top of the six yard box.
