Taru seals Brothers victory

Striker Taru’s first-half strike was enough for Brothers Union to earn a hard-fought 1-0 win over Farashganj in the Citycell Bangladesh League at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamlapur on Sunday.

After a string of passes, Sabuj whipped in a great ball from the right and Taru could not miss from close range to seal the Oranges’ second win in five games 24 minutes after start.

Farashganj tasted their first defeat after a four-match unbeaten run in the professional league and remained on six points after one win and three draws. The Gopibag outfit moved to fourth place with nine points.

Farashganj got a close chance to level the game but their Nigerian forward failed to find the net.

In the 79th minute, Kalu Johnson was unable to head properly from Imroz’s left flank cross with a hapless rival goalkeeper in front.

At the M A Aziz Stadium in Chittagong, local Mohammedan shared points with Beanibazar as they drew 1-1.

Shawkat drew the first blood for the port city black and whites in the 67th minute while Bipul leveled the score six minutes later for Beanibazar, who had just lost their coach Kazi Jashimuddin Joshi after a home defeat in the previous round.

Chittagong Mohammedan have five points from five matches with one win and two draws while newcomers Beanibazar are on two points with two draws from four matches.

In the other match of the day, Feni Soccer Club shared a goalless draw with Shuktara Jubo Sangsad at the Shaheed Salam Stadium in Feni.

With this draw visitors grabbed first point from the professional league from the fourth match as they were defeated last three matches. The homeside have four points from same numbers of encounters.
