Soccer club grab maiden win

Citycell Bangladesh League newcomers Feni Soccer Club recorded their maiden win in the professional league when the visitors edged Beanibazar Sporting Club by a solitary goal at the Sylhet Stadium on Tuesday.


The match also marked the debut for Sylhet Stadium in the Bangladesh League


Imroz scored the all important goal for the Feni outfit after 41 minutes. Feni had lost both their previous matches. For Beanibazar, it was the second loss in three outings.


Meanwhile, Farashganj Sporting club and Chittagong Mohammedan Sporting Club played out a goalless draw at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamlapur in Dhaka.


The hosts came into Tuesday’s fixture on the back of decent form having won one game and two draws while a struggling Chittagong Mohammedan had one win and two losses previously.


The first half saw the home side come the closest to take the lead after 37 minutes when Mezbabul Haque Manik forced a save by Chittagong custodian Uttam but Nigerian striker Kalu Jhonson\s placing shot was again cleared by Uttam before Prashanta’s shot on the second rebound was cleared by Mohammedan skipper Shawkat from the goalline. .

It was a dour affair with an unmarked Emeka Lucky adding some spice in the second half but the Farashganj defender blasted his header from an Imroz Chowdhury freekick on the hour.


The only other serious chance fell to the visitors in the 80th minute when Akbar Hossain Ridon’s freekick flew just off the crossbar.


Farashganj pushed their collection to six points while Chittagong Mohammedan moved to four after four rounds.



Rahamatgong MFS will meet Brothers Union at the Bir Shreshtha Shaheed Mostafa Kamal Stadium in Kamlapur in Dhaka on Wednesday.
