Grameenphone Title Sponsors of Zimbabwe’s Tour to Bangladesh 2009

Grameenphone Limited has secured the title sponsorship rights for the forthcoming tour of the Zimbabwe Cricket Team. This was formally declared at a media briefing at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium today. Grameenphone Cup is the official name of the 5-match ODI Series between Zimbabwe and Bangladesh.

GP, the leading cell phone operators of the country and official sponsors of the National Cricket Team and the National Cricket Academy, will give US$ 78,000.00 as title sponsors of the series. In addition, GP will also provide US$ 14,000.00 in prize money.

“Grameenphone has been a long-time partner of the BCB and we are delighted that GP are the title sponsors for the series against Zimbabwe. We have always received excellent cooperation from GP and I am sure this will be another successful venture between the BCB and GP,” said Chairman of BCB Marketing and Commercial Committee Aziz-Al Kaiser.

“We at Grameenphone are passionate about Bangladesh cricket and are proud to be associated with the BCB. The Grameenphone Cup is another statement of our commitment towards highlighting and popularizing cricket in this country,” said Chief Communication Officer of Grameenphone Kazi Monirul Kabir.

BCB Media and Communications Committee Chairman Jalal Yunus thanked GP for its support: “GP has contributed immensely in the development of Bangladesh cricket and we thank them for coming forward to sponsor this ODI series.”
